The Oko Caribe single origin cacao comes from small farmers in the Francisco de Macoris region of the Dominican Republic.
We import this fine cacao, peform a light skillful roast, and stone-grind it into chocolate for no less than 48 hours. Our small-batch single-origin chocolate has a smooth texture and firm snap while retaining its natural flavors.
The term ‘Single Origin’ refers to the origin of the cacao bean, being grown in a single region, often single farm or co-op, and not blended with other regions. At Altus, we masterfully craft single-origin chocolate only using fine cacao beans to showcase the flavor characteristics unique to that region. We select organic, fairly-traded cacao beans from the prized trinitario & criollo varieties.
